Electromagnetic Corrections to Charged Pion Scattering at Low Energies
The electromagnetic corrections to the low energy scattering amplitude involving charged pions only are investigated at leading and next-to-leading orders in the twoflavour chiral expansion. As an application, the corresponding variation in the strong 2S − 2P level shift is evaluated. The relative variation is of the order of 5%.
متن کاملComplete zeta-function approach to the electromagnetic Casimir effect
A technique for evaluating the electromagnetic Casimir energy in situations involving spherical or circular boundaries is presented. Zeta function regularization is unambiguously used from the start and the properties of Bessel and related zeta functions are central. Nontrivial results concerning these functions are given. While part of their application agrees with previous knowledge, new resu...
متن کاملImplementing a General-Purpose Edge Router
Although routing is a well-studied problem in various contexts, there remain unsolved problems in routing edges for graph layouts. In contrast with techniques from other domains such as VLSI CAD and robotics, where physical constraints play a major role, aesthetics play the more important role in graph layout. For graphs, we seek paths that are easy to follow and add meaning to the layout. We d...
متن کاملCasimir Energies in a Green ’ s Function Approach
The effects of quantum fluctuations in fields confined by background configurations may be simply and transparently computed using the Green's function approach pioneered by Schwinger. Not only can total energies and surface forces be computed in this way, but local energy densities, and in general, all components of the vacuum expectation value of the energy-momentum tensor may be calculated. ...
متن کاملTwo - Loop Corrections to the Electromagnetic Vertex for Energies close to Threshold
Two-loop contributions to the electromagnetic form factors are calculated in the kinematic regime close to the fermion-antifermion threshold. The results are presented in an expansion in the velocity β of the fermions in the c.m. frame up to next-to-next-to leading order in β. The existence of a new Coulomb singularity logarithmic in β, which is closely related to the O(α 2 ln α) corrections kn...
